trench warfare, the 3rd Division has 12,000 yards of them & these are only the main ones. All these have to be boarded & rivetted. General Allenby has been given command of the 3rd (?) Army, & General Fanshawe another cavalry man succeeds him with the 5th Corps.
22 October 1915 The 52 Brigade of 17th Division commanded by General Banon relieves our Brigade tonight & the Brigade marches to Ouderdom
23 October 1915 Relief complete last night at 11.30pm – no casualties
24 October 1915 at 5.30 the Brigade leaves its billets and marches to GODAESVELDE in France. A lovely moonlight night – men very cheery & march along well – arrive at 9.30 & regiments take billets in houses and farms. Our Head Quarters is on Mont des Cats perched on top of the hill. We have our meals in the school and sleep in the hotel.
